OLYMPIA
Ancient Olympia is one of the most important
sites in the world – it is the place where the Olympic
Games were held, a place seen as sacred because of its soothing
effect on individuals: the shimmering valley of the Alphios
river inspired citizens of states at war to suspend hostilities
during the Olympic Games religious and athletic celebrations.
The games were held every four years from 776 BC to 393 AD
uninterruptedly and it is from here the Olympic flame is now
transferred to the city elected to host the games.
BIOART Ltd chose the region of Olympia because
of its spirit and striking natural beauty as the ideal place
for ecological grounding. Bio-Art’s ten acres of woodland,
olive groves and lush vegetation, the magnificent sanctuaries
and temples in the area cannot but inspire and move every
participant in the course.
There are archaeological sites to visit, mountains
and rivers to explore, wetlands and caves, salt marshes with
a variety of fauna and flora, sand dunes and long stretches
of untouched sandy beaches, thermal springs and lakes; all
provide an opportunity for an intimate acquaintance with nature.
Olympia is a 4 hour drive from Athens Airport
and just over an hour from the port of Patras on the Ionian
Sea.
